TransCat Solutions History

TransCat Solutions (Transport Compliance & Training) is a business I established in May 2018 as a means to provide support and training to transport businesses, primary contractors in transport industry and companies who use heavy vehicle transport within their business. I have a passion for helping companies achieve business security through strong systems in compliance and professional customised training to their suit needs.

TransCat Solutions History

My career in transport started in 1989 as a 17-year-old joining the Australian Army and specialising in the Transport Corps. This period of my life helped me to gain my passion for transport and work my way from the entry level of driving Unimog’s and Land Rovers until exited the Army as an Operator Specialist driving B Doubles, Low Loaders and Road Trains to all parts of Australia.

From there I cut my teeth in the WA mining industry completing various bulk tipping, fuel and general freight road train roles in the Kalgoorlie gold fields regions. This also included roles in working underground and remote work as concrete batcher.

After this valuable experience I decided to move back to my home state of Victoria where I worked various transport roles before trying my hand at driver training & assessing at Wodonga Tafe’s National Industrial Skills Training Centre (NISTC) and then DECA. This role enabled me to achieve my accreditation as a licenced heavy vehicle assessor in both NSW & Vic. I learned a lot about how to effectively provide training and this pushed me to gain my Diploma in VET (Vocational Education and Training Practice) amongst others.

I then moved on again this time as the Northern Regional Compliance & Training manager for Murray Goulburn. This was a challenging role and with good leadership and support was able to successfully implement a new system of recruitment and training on-boarding they still use today. At the same time, I was also managing the compliance of the 40 plus prime-movers and 70 plus trailer configurations that included the state of the art 26m PBS A Doubles. This role also gave me a thorough understanding of the NHVR through, access applications, accreditation audits, and CoR & HVNL compliance requirements.

This has all led to me to where today, but enough about me.
