Training is one of the most important but often neglected parts of any company process. It’s also a requirement under HVNL and the various WH&S acts.

A well-trained staff member can often pay for themselves time and time again from the work that you don’t see.

I hear a lot of people say training takes up too much time and is expensive?

Yes, it can. However, what’s more expensive and time consuming is addressing errors or issues that could have been prevented or resolved by properly trained staff, conversant with the requirements of legislation and your business.

Our aim is to provide customised training that is relevant to your business whilst meeting compliance requirements. It should also be easy to understand and implement.

The Two main types of Transport Training

Accredited Training is provided by a Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s) and are aligned to units of competency required usually for accreditations qualifications.  They are generally formal, and delivered offsite, completed online or thrown into support, Vehicle Licence courses to make them more attractive and meet licence compliance obligations – e.g. basic fatigue management, load restraint, etc.  They can be expensive, include other topics not relevant to your business and take staff away from the workplace for long periods.

Non-accredited Training can be built and delivered to meet the specific needs of the business and its people.  Non-accredited training can be delivered by industry subject matter professionals (SMP) rather than qualified trainers or teachers and can be delivered when required on site at the convenience of the company. This type of training is suitable for

  • Staff induction
  • Supporting change management
  • Training in specific site equipment, policy, procedure or management systems
  • When accredited training isn’t required or doesn’t cover the training topic
  • When you want a holistic training system purpose built for your company
  • Meeting compliance requirements not requiringaccredited training – e.g. mass management awareness, vehicle inspection and Workdiary use

At TransCat Solutionswe specialise in non-accredited training

TransCat Solutions builds custom quality training packages developed in consultation with the client. Training can be facilitated by TransCat Solutions or by trained company staff members when convenient or as required by the company. 

Our training material will align to the current accredited training units where possible enabling subsequent conversion to accredited qualification via the Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) process if required in the future.

Training

A typical training package will include:

  • A Power Point presentation specific to company requirements and include the company’s logo, images and input
  • A multiple-choice questionnaire to test knowledge retention that is built to their level of understanding & terminology by someone who has actually worked in the transport industry
  • An answer sheet for the company or trainer to assess and record competency
  • A time and attendance sign off sheet (if required) to ensure all staff have attended and completed the training. This can be used for reference during an audit
  • Third party report or on road assessment or practical assessment signoff
  • Optional completed training register (Excel Spread sheet) that can capture all the required company training with reports of completion and refresher courses required
